Elementary Education B.A.E. (ESL Option)

This professional admission program leads to an Arizona Elementary Teaching Certificate for grades K-8 with an endorsement once all certification requirements are complete. During all four semesters of the program, you work in schools with diverse populations of children and teachers who are invested in supporting new teachers.

Elementary educators with ESL expertise have the unique teaching skills necessary to assist diverse groups of students on their educational paths. This program prepares students to improve the education and lives of all children, including English language learners. In addition to a Bachelor of Arts in Education, students in the program also earn an Elementary Certificate K-8 with an ESL endorsement. Courses, required practicum and student teaching are held at local school sites, where students gain firsthand experience connecting theory and practice through fieldwork. At the elementary school, students work with diverse populations of children and educators who are invested in supporting new teachers.

Format: In Person
Location: Southern Arizona, Tucson (Main Campus). Courses and fieldwork are often taught off campus in local districts.

Student Teaching

You will have three semesters of fieldwork in local grade K-8 classrooms leading to your last semester of full-time student teaching in a classroom with English language learners.

Careers

Graduates teach in public and private elementary schools in grades K-8 in Arizona and other states. Other graduates have gone on to graduate school in counseling, special education, and policy studies.
