Undergraduate Programs 

The Teaching, Learning and Sociocultural Studies Department offers undergraduate programs that lead to teacher certification in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Elementary Education with Bilingual endorsement. We also offer an undergraduate program in Literacy, Learning & Leaderships that does not lead to teacher certification.

Graduate Programs

The Teaching, Learning and Sociocultural Studies Department has two graduate programs: Language, Reading & Culture (LRC) and Teaching & Teacher Education (TTE).

Language, Reading & Culture (LRC) Programs

The LRC program is recognized nationally and internationally for its faculty and graduate programs in literacy acquisition and development, sociocultural theory, Indigenous education, heritage-language revitalization, study of households and community settings, and expertise in children’s and adolescent literatures and literacy.

 
*Courses to meet the requirements of an endorsement may be taken as part of a graduate program and count toward a degree OR the course work for meeting the requirements of an endorsement may be taken by students who are admitted by the Graduate College (click here)  as non-degree seeking students.

Teaching & Teacher Education (TTE) Programs

The TTE program has internationally recognized faculty and concentrations in science and mathematics education, environmental learning and sustainability, teaching Mexican American students, Indigenous education, and teacher education. One of the programs (M.Ed. Teach Arizona) leads to secondary teacher certification.
