Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, B.A.E.
Elementary education students (those interested in teaching grades 1 through 8) take courses in General Education covering these areas:
The Elementary Education Program with 3 semesters of extensive fieldwork begins with one semester of foundation courses on campus. Then, your courses are offered at a local elementary school for two semesters before you student teach in your fourth semester.
You graduate with a Bachelors of Art in Education and receive an Elementary Certificate 1st-8th with a Structured English Immersion Endorsement once you have completed all certification requirements.
The Elementary Education Program with a Bilingual Endorsement prepares you to teach in dual language, bilingual, SEI and traditional elementary classrooms. This option includes a concentration in Bilingual Education.
You complete the majority of your concentration prior to beginning the program. Then, you take a semester of foundation courses on campus. Then, during semesters two and three, your courses are offered at a local elementary school and include extensive classroom-based field experiences in bilingual, dual language, and/or SEI classrooms. Semester four is student teaching in bilingual, dual language, and/or SEI classrooms.
You graduate with a Bachelors of Art in Education and receive an Elementary Certificate 1st-8th with a Bilingual Endorsement once you have completed all certification requirements.
Elementary Education with English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement prepares you to teach in multilingual first through eighth grade classrooms. This option may include a concentration in Bilingual Education or ESL and field placement in a dual language, ELL and/or SEI classrooms.
In the first semester you take foundations courses on campus. Then, during semesters two and three, your courses are offered at a local elementary school and include extensive classroom-based field experiences in a dual language, ELL and/or SEI classrooms. Semester four is student teaching in a dual language, ELL and/or SEI classrooms.
You graduate with a Bachelors of Art in Education and receive an Elementary Certificate 1st-8th with an ESL Endorsement once you have completed all certification requirements.
