Dissertation: “From Goals to Degrees: Institutional Processes of Opportunity and Blocked Opportunity in Community Colleges.”

Qualitative research in community colleges explores unintended ‘cooling-out’ processes among remedial students and institutional supports for increased aspirations among transfer students. Quantitative logistic analyses of national data test existing theories of academic and social integration on a sample of community college students compared to four-year college students.
