Teaching

Dr. Liaupsin is the director of the Cross Categorical Special Education MA Program. Dr. Liaupsin advises students and coordinates selected independent study and research projects. He also teaches the following courses:

SERP 502 -- Behavior Principles and Disability: Assessment and Intervention (3 units)?

Description: Use of behavior principles to positively support individuals with disabilities, especially those with moderate and severe disabilities. Graduate-level requirements include in-depth paper(s) on aspects of current issues in the field.

SERP 409/509 -- Foundations of High Incidence Disabilities (3 units)

?Description: Issues in the education of students with mild-moderate mental retardation, learning disabilities, emotional or behavioral disorders, attention deficit disorders, and physical disabilities. Topics include history, definitions, current issues, characteristics, theories, and educational programming. Graduate-level requirement includes research papers based upon approved proposals and presentation of peer-reviewed research.

SERP 590 -- Single Subject Research Design (3 units)?

Description: Review of principles and practices underlying single subject research designs; practice in preparation of research proposals; conduct of research emphasized.

SERP 596C -- Intro to Special Learning Needs in the General Education Secondary Classroom (3 units)?

Description: Introduction to a variety of student learning styles impacted by developmental growth, cultural and ethnic diversity, and instructional methodology/accommodations for use by teachers addressing variations in inclusive secondary classrooms.
