Current Research
Dr. Rosenblum is working with Dr. Sandra Lewis of Florida State University and Dr. Frances Mary D’Andrea, private consultant. They are analyzing data from a Delphi study that examines the minimum competencies pre-service teachers of visually impaired students should have in preparing materials using the literary braille code. She is beginning a similar study with Dr. Derrick Smith of the University of Alabama Huntsville. The purpose of this study is to gather information about how university programs prepare teachers of visually impaired students in the areas of Nemeth braille code, foreign language braille, music braille, computer braille, tactile graphics and abacus. As part of this study the Delphi process will be used to develop minimum competencies pre-service teachers should have in preparing Nemeth braille code materials. With Dr. Tina Herzberg of the University of South Carolina Upstate, Dr. Rosenblum is analyzing data from a study that gathered demographic information and braille transcriptions of math worksheets for tactile learners. Dr. Rosenblum has other research interests that include the impact of nondriving on individuals with visual impairments, social skills of people who are blind or have low vision, the impact of visual impairment on family members, and personnel preparation.
